Job: Electrical and Instrumentation System Engineer

Job Purpose


Responsible for designing, development/prototyping, manufacturing/sourcing, testing, documenting, implementing, verifying, maintaining and supporting electrical and condition monitoring system designs for submerged cryogenic pump and expander applications on time and on budget in accordance with engineering practices utilized by the Division.


Also, responsible for reviewing project specifications and supporting project related requirements for the selection of electrical and condition monitoring system designs if required by the project in accordance with applicable electrical design codes. Must be able to effectively communicate and work cross-functionally as a team member.



Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner, so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

  3. Will work independently to perform any engineering assignment including complex problems/assignments and complete almost any task with minimal to no guidance.
  4. Responsible for the design and approval of electrical and condition monitoring system designs per project specific requirements.  This includes development specific to project requirements, material requirements, BOM’s, test plans, and QA requirements.
  5. Responsible for supporting the project engineers, application engineering and AMS departments on day to day project, application and aftermarket questions.  This will entail verification of performance, application, industry standards, component drawings, etc.
  6. Take ownership of on time and budget deliverables produced & their quality.
  7. Participate in project technical clarification meetings as necessary including customer meetings at site which may require domestic and international travels based on project requirements.
  8. Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other disciplines within the company, vendors and the customer as required to close out all pending contractual matters per approved Engineering Department procedures.
  9. Supervision and coordination during preparation of manufacturing drawings, bill of materials and documents per approved Engineering Department procedure in MRP system.
  10. Issuance of test procedures and manuals as necessary to ensure correct testing and operation of equipment specified by Engineering Department per approved Engineering Department procedures.
  11. Supervision of assembly and operation of the equipment to ensure correctness and suitability of design together with updating of Engineering documents to reflect "As Built" condition.
  12. Supervise prototype production assembly projects as needed.
  13. Provide support to project engineers, application engineers, field service engineers, customers, vendors, chain management and engineering management.
  14. Preparation and submittal of customer engineering documentations per approved Engineering Department Procedures thru utilizing internal ERP System.
  15. Apply engineering knowledge and sound engineering practices to troubleshoot assembly, manufacturing and testing problems. Provides technical guidance and direction to other engineers, designers, drafters, test and shop personnel.
  16. Work closely with Engineering Management in developing and updating Engineering Department’s standards and practices relating to production of EIC products.
  17. Completion of any other assigned tasks in accordance with written/verbal instructions or approved Engineering Department procedures.


  1. Four year Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required. 
  1. Minimum 2 years direct engineering experience in electrical systems, sensors and condition monitoring.
  1. Working knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems (120V up to 15kV) including DOL, Soft Starter and VFD operation is required.
  1. Working knowledge & understanding of applicable Codes & Standards such as NEC, UL, NFPA, CSA and IEC is required.
  1. Familiarity with industrial networks and field busses, including 4-20 mA, HART and MODBUS.
  1. Familiarity with SQL databases, internet protocols, TCP-IP, and USB communication protocols.
  1. Basic Mechanical Engineering understanding on stress analysis, experience on Finite Element Analysis and Solid works is preferred.
  1. Good communication skills, proven discipline to carry out assigned tasks without any supervision.

Working Conditions


Mostly office work but ability to travel both domestically and internationally is a must.


Physical Requirements


Frequently able to support and witness machine assembly/dis-assembly and testing activities at the shop to support other engineers upon request.


Able to travel for 10 hour flights upon request and able to attend meetings, EIC equipment installations, commissioning and troubleshooting activities at customer site/terminal.
