The Network Engineer I - VoIP Services is responsible for the development and maintenance of the solution specific logical and technical IT Network and Voice architecture. This individual will provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level.


1. Configures network infrastructure and services to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
2. Assists Network Infrastructure Architect in Network and Voice Services Topology design.
3. Monitors infrastructure performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed.
4. Collaborates with Infrastructure Architects, IT Management, and department leaders to assess near- and long-term systems capacity needs.
5. Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to configuration, mapping, processes and service records.
6. Deploys and manages network hardware, including routers, switches, load balancers, and any associated operating systems and software.
7. Develops, implements and maintains policies, procedures and associated training plans for network infrastructure administration, usage and disaster recovery.
8. Conducts research on IT products, services, protocols and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
9. Monitors and tests network infrastructure performance and provide statistics and reports for infrastructure systems.
10. Conducts research on emerging technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
11. Develops, documents, makes recommendations and communicate plans for investing in IT infrastructure, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
12. Reviews new and existing IT projects, systems designs and procurement/outsourcing plans for compliance with IT standards and architectural plans.
13. Develops and executes test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
14. Provides guidance to junior members of the team by mentoring the Support Center staff and Network Administrators.
15. Confers with end-users, clients, or IT management to define business requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development.
16. Assists in planning and developing the IS Business Recovery plan and assist in the testing of the plan.
17. Available to be on-call, as needed.
18. Provides top tier assistance for issues escalated by team members and end users, reaching out to 3rd parties as needed.


1. Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Information Science or related field.
2. 5-7 years of network operations experience.
3. Extensive hands-on technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, LAN, WAN, frame relay, and TCP/IP.

4. Extensive knowledge of a Voice over IP infrastructure, preferably Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

5. Extensive knowledge of SIP, Analog, and Digital phone services.
6. Experience working in a switched and routed environment.
7. Hardware, software and network connection troubleshooting experience.
8. Working technical knowledge of current network hardware.
9. Skilled at installing/configuring hubs, switches, routers, bridges, etc.
10. Knowledge of anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems and other network security measures.


1. Cisco Certified Network Associate or higher recommended.
