The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer is a key part of the Quality Assurance Team, enabling the QA Team to focus on the creative aspects of testing and project delivery, and provides senior-level QA expertise and leadership for the QA team, and for both internal and external partners.

Integral to the success of the QA Team, the Quality Assurance Automation Engineer, supports multiple IT related projects and work assignments, provides quality assurance guidance on automated testing processes, coverage and strategies while using judgment to support project objectives, and delivers high quality products, systems and processes at AAA Life. They coordinate and support the daily automated regression tests for other QA team members on projects to ensure all test resources are utilized effectively. They mentor other QA team members on effective usage of automated testing without impacting sprint-level deliverables.


  • Interact with IT Project Teams to develop, update, and maintain the automated testing suite
  • Design and architect modular, reusable automated testing solutions that satisfy testing requirements
  • Maintain, extend, and update the automated testing framework
  • Develop and lead the evolution of our automation strategy and effort
  • Mentor QA Team on proper creation and maintenance of automated tests
  • Analyze daily regression testing results and coordinate QA Team response
  • Drive load and performance testing strategy, execution, and results analysis
  • Maintain an advanced level of knowledge and expertise on automated testing tools and quality assurance concepts and methodologies
  • Coordinate virtual machine resources for automated regression and performance testing
  • Work in collaboration with development team and Ops team on CI and CD practices. Build process for continuous integration of new code with rigorous automated tests for continuous delivery.
  • Schedule daily automated testing activities to maximize effective use of computing resources and provide adequate coverage for project teams

  • Assesses, guides, reviews and approves the work of other QA analysts through peer and formal QA reviews
  • Lead a team of QA analysts to complete projects and work assignments that meet stated objectives
  • Ensures that the appropriate level of automated testing has been identified
  • Increased awareness of long-term goals and larger framework of concepts. Is able to maintain the perspective between overall picture and tactical details
  • Work closely with QA Manager to improve automated testing framework and increase the QA Team’s automated testing capabilities
  • Identifies, leads, influences and contributes to the implementation and continual improvement of QA standards, processes and procedures
  • Independently and proactively maintains expertise in a broad range of testing methodologies and strategies
  • Collaborate with QA Manager to chart future automated testing strategies

Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in system-level QA Testing and Web application testing
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with test automation frameworks i.e. Cucumber, FitNesse, TestNG, or Selenium
  • 3 years of experience with object oriented programming, using Java
  • 3 years of experience in Web service testing
  • 2 years of experience with JMeter and BlazeMeter or similar performance tools
  • 2 years of experience working with Jenkins or similar job scheduler tool
  • 2 years in an Agile environment
  • Familiar with virtual machine administration
  • Proficient in the use of job scheduling and build automation platforms like Jenkins, ANT, and maven
  • Familiar with the concepts of TDD and how it applies to Agile testing
  • Ability to write and understand basic SQL queries to perform data verification and set up test data
  • Experience with test management tools such as QA Symphony,HP Quality Center, Test Director, or similar
  • Experience with Defect Management tools such as Jira or Bugzilla
