The purpose of this position is to provide professional civil engineering work including design layout and plan review. Responsibilities also include planning, organizing, and administering municipal infrastructure in the functional areas of capital project design, construction, and traffic engineering operations while providing technical assistance and administration regarding engineering to staff, outside consultants, developers, agencies, commissions, and Council.
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a project manager or civil engineer; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required. Municipal engineering experience is preferred. Knowledge of Maricopa County Association of Governments (MAG) standards desired. Masters Degree preferred.
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, travel and environmental conditions such as disruptive people, imminent danger, and a threatening environment.
