Description of Job Duties:

 

  • Conducts direct counseling with victims of trauma in an international context.
  • Develops the capacity of local staff to be able to provide psychosocial care in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Conducts psychosocial assessments of beneficiaries from traumatized populations.
  • Creates a referral system for vulnerable individuals and families to ensure appropriate services are being rendered.
  • Coordinates with local government bodies and other non-governmental organizations to ensure individual and family needs are being met.
  • Attends protection coordination and cluster meetings.
  • Manages counseling programs, child friendly spaces, and other community center protection initiatives.
  • Coordinates the financial accounting and monthly reporting of all program-related funds.
  • Ensures an appropriate ministry component is included in each protection project at the Center.
  • Supervises, supports, and directs expatriate and national staff in their various assignments at the Center and continues the process of staff development.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Psychology or Counseling-related field.
  • Prior experience in Middle East preferred
  • One year (12 semester hours) of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
  • Ability to prescribe medication, including mental health medication, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and appropriate applications (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Prior experience in overseas or missions context.
  • Arabic and / or Kurdish proficiency preferred, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail, anticipation, and follow-up required.
  • Self-starter with exemplary work ethic.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

12 month contract with potential for extension

 

This position is unaccompanied.
