Director, Data Engineering -- REMOTE

What you'll be doing:
TheDirector, Data Engineering role is a highly visible and strategic position.Successful candidates are process-oriented, super curious, enjoy diving deepinto data, have outstanding analytical skills at developing short-term andlong-term strategies. The ideal candidate is passionate about data-driventechnologies but also passionate about leading and mentoring a great group ofdata engineers. We're looking for someone who welcomes challenges and ishyper-focused on delivering exceptional results to internal business customerswhile creating a rewarding team environment.
Perform keyleadership and mentorship role in the areas of advanced data techniques,including data modeling, data ingestion, data integration, data visualization,data governance, statistical methods, and implementation involving cloud-based,traditional and hybrid architectures.
Review, selectand integrate next-generation technologies into the architectural strategy asneeded.
Work closely withthe Data Science / Machine Learning and Analytics teams to provide datarequired for developing, operationalizing, monitoring and evaluating predictivemodels, dashboards and reports for customer facing applications and internaluse.
Implement andmonitor quality control processes to ensure accuracy of data, dashboards andreports.
Lead thedevelopment and implementation of the data governance process. Governance mustaddress data standardization and ways to address exponential data growth, andinclude establishing Data Owners and Stewards.
Be an SME intechnical and functional aspects of our insights platform and its integrationrequirements
Proactivelyidentify internal and external dependencies, issues, scope changes, andprogress against project plan
Develop andexpand our knowledge base and best practices for delivering data products
Provide technicalsupport to assist clients and partners during and post implementation
Build and leadhigh-performing, agile teams focused on Data Engineering, onsite and offshore
Devise talentstrategy for the team - identify resource gaps or inefficiencies, build hiring plan,recommend promotions and manage performance for consistency with the needs andvision of the department.
Initiate andfoster business partnerships with current and potential clients, vendors, ITexecutives, and senior business executives
Whatskills you will bring:
Bachelor's inComputer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other quantitative field withsignificant leadership experience
10 years ofexperience building data products and supporting analytics solutions (masteryof SQL, Data Warehousing, Python, experience with Big Data, stream processing)
5 years ofmanagerial experience utilizing strong leadership skills, including mentoring,communication, decision-making, and project management.
Experienceleveraging MS/Azure ecosystem to manage the development and maintenance ofcloud platform operations
Knowledge of theBig Data technology landscape beyond the buzzwords; Experience with big dataand analytics programming languages such as Python, R, Spark, NoSQL
Experience withbatch and real-time processing frameworks (Hadoop, Apache Storm, Apache Kafka,Apache Spark etc.)
A broad set oftechnical skills and knowledge across hardware, software, systems and solutionsdevelopment
A proven trackrecord of using quantitative analysis to impact key business or productdecisions
Solid grasp ofand experience with implementing and operating software developmentmethodologies
Exceptionalproblem-solving skills: demonstrated ability to understand business challenges,structure complex problems, develop solutions
A solid grasp ofcommon statistical applications and methods (A/B tests and multivariateexperiments, probabilities, regression)
Understanding ofAgile Software Development Lifecycle and project planning/execution skills
Desire to thrivein a constantly innovating and changing environment
Ability topartner and influence key business stakeholders at all levels of theorganization
Strong skills inteam leadership and networking, ability to work across multiple organizationsto accomplish diverse goals
