The Innovation Team is seeking a talented Application System Engineer 5 to help support their application.

Application System Engineer position within the Enterprise Innovation Technology Enablement team.

Responsibilities Include: Provides technical consultation and support in Research and Development initiatives focused on delivering emerging technologies across a broad spectrum of technical domains from Enterprise Content Management, Biometric Security, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning Robotics, ChatBot, Social Engineering, etc.  Analyzes business requirements, designs and writes technical specifications to design or redesign computer solutions. Develops original and/or complex code or provides coding guidance to less experienced staff. Leads and/or performs modeling, simulations and analysis efforts. Verifies program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programs. Participates in overall systems/research testing. As an escalation point for application support and troubleshooting, provides guidance and direction to less experienced staff in resolution of escalated issues and/or complex solution, application or system problems. Maintain and manage the continuous integration and continuous deployment tools and processes.  Conduct POCs and build solutions on new technologies, with emphasis on architecting an application solution. Assures quality, security, risk and compliance requirements are met for supported area and oversees updating and testing of business continuation plan.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of application development and implementation experience
  • 7+ years of UNIX experience
  • 5+ years of Tomcat development or implementation experience
  • 5+ years of Middleware administration experience
  • 10+ years of application development experience



Desired Qualifications

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience securing IaaS/PaaS private cloud or DevOps environments
  • 2+years of Mongo DB experience
  • 2+ years of JIRA experience
  • 2 + years of experience with server administration and job creation using Jenkins Continuous Integration server
  • Knowledge and understanding of firewall and networking
  • Knowledge and understanding of new technologies evaluation and assessment
  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile project methodologies
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in engineering
  • 2+ years of Apache experience
  • Strong collaboration and partnering skills
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of multiple source code version control systems in working with branches, tags and labels
  • Ability to translate and present complex technical data across technical and non-technical groups

Job Expectations

  • Ability to work on call as assigned
  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment, including weekends and holidays
  • Position Hours: Monday - Friday (as early as 7 am and as late as 6 pm ).
  • Must be able to attend training and off-site office events outside office hours
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
